Unified H. pylori IgG ELISA Kit, 96 wells
The BIOHIT Unified Helicobacter pylori IgG ELISA is for the quantitative detection of human IgG class antibodies to Helicobacter pylori in EDTA plasma. The test is intended for diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection in adult patients with upper abdominal symptoms (e.g. dyspepsia) and is an important component of the Unified GastroPanel blood test.
Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection is an independent risk factor for Gastric Cancer and peptic ulcer disease. The spiral shaped gram negative bacterium is also the most important cause of chronic gastritis which leads to atrophy of the gastric mucosa.
Hp IgG antibodies give significant added diagnostic value to the three GastroPanel biomarkers. IgG antibody levels for Hp indicate two potentially different conditions: 1) an ongoing Hp infection, or 2) a previous exposure to Hp. When Hp IgG is the only abnormal marker it indicates an Hp-associated superficial gastritis (non-atrophic gastritis), while if associated with abnormalities in the other three GastroPanel markers, an elevated Hp antibody level confirms the diagnosis of Hp-associated Atrophic Gastritis (antrum or corpus).
